Iguazú Falls, Argentina

If you have ever heard from Iguazu Falls, this gigantic work of nature at the border of Argentina and Brazil, I bet that attraction already on your list of places to visit. And you would not be wrong, this part of the world is to discover at all costs! I was lucky enough to include it in my turn to Argentina and although it is a bit far from other attractions, I have not regretted a moment.

Getting there

First, you must choose which side you want to see the falls Iguazu Argentina or Brazil? For my part, I chose to stay on the Argentine side, because I had already paid the head tax in the country and not planning to travel to Brazil for this time the cost of the visa would not have been worth for a day. Several interviewees said they preferred the Argentine side, but I could not say, not having seen it.

So I said, like to go to Puerto Iguazu? Again, you will have several options: bus and plane are the most common.

Bus or plane?

You will put about 17 hours by bus to get from Buenos Aires to Puerto Iguazu at a cost of 650 Argentine pesos ($ 125 CAD). The journey is usually done at night, but the Argentinian bus being named one of the world's best bus route is very comfortable. Be aware that you are taking in advance, you can buy air tickets for virtually the same price as the bus (sometimes even less), which will save you time during shorter stays ( 1 hour 45 minutes). For example, Aerolineas Argentinas tickets are around $ 200 CAD. Note: it is important to buy the site of your country of residence as proof of residency in Argentina could be asked if you try to book on Argentine site.

To move

Puerto Iguazu is a relatively small city of about 80,000 inhabitants and the bus station is located in the center of the main tourist artery. So you can move on foot to most of the hotels and inns, but taxis are available if needed. Make sure the driver activates the taximeter early in the race, if not simply refuse the race.

If you arrive from the airport, locate a kiosk For Tourist selling shuttle tickets (one sometimes gets the impression that these private services) cost 40 Argentine pesos (about $ 7.80 CAD) . With your ticket, exit the airport and wait on the left of the door. The van or minibus should look quickly to drive you to any destination in the city, just give the name of your institution to the driver. Taxis are also available, but they are rare and much more expensive. The shuttle is quick and efficient, I recommend it even if you're not necessarily on a budget.

In everyday life, you can easily get around the city on foot, unless your hotel is in the suburbs. In this case, make sure a shuttle or taxi service is available. Taxis always line up in front of the bus station in the center, if necessary. If you can not find it, go into a shop and ask that you called.

How to visit the Iguazu Falls

From the bus station, a city bus goes to the visitor center of the falls several times an hour. Buy your ticket to the numerous kiosks at a cost of 60 pesos (about $ 12 CAD) round trip. The journey lasts 20-25 minutes and you will be deposited directly to the ticket.

After your visit, a bus will be waiting right out. The schedule varies by season, so take note of last bus on the poster at the stop before entering the park if you think you spend the whole day.
